Suggested Hymns & Songs
Below you will see a selection of hymns and songs in suggested sections of a traditional ceremony. This is a very small sample of my repertoire. If something that you like is not there, please tell me! I am very happy to learn new material once given plenty of notice.
The most important thing having chosen your wedding music is to always check with your priest. In recent times there has been a huge clamp down on music in the wedding church ceremony because in the past inappropriate material has been used. If you are having what we call a traditional wedding ceremony in the church, there are a few guidelines that must be kept – it is best to have a chat to your priest about this. For civil ceremonies or blessings you can choose any type of song that suits your tastes.
Suggested Songs & Hymns
The body of the mass i.e. from the opening prayer to the final blessing must be of a spiritual nature. You may be surprised when you see some of what we would deem as modern songs that fit into this category. Remember the day is about love. Below are samples of hymns and songs that Orla has used in the past. Orla will meet (if geographically possible) or discuss via phone/email, approx 6-8 weeks before your wedding to choose and finalise the music for your wedding.
